Every year at the beginning of October we elect a new Executive Committee to take over from the outgoing on. These executives are elected for a 1 year term but members can re-stand as many times as they want. It's a great opportunity to develop skills, meet new people, and have an impact on the Welsh Liberal Democrats and the activity of our AM and MP.
There are a total of six positions up for grabs - Chair, Vice Chair, Policy Officer, Communications Officer, Campaigns Officer and a Non-Portfolio Officer. You can meet the current team over on our About Us pages.
Getting involved in an election may sound a bit difficult, but it's not!
Just pick which role interests you most and which you think you have ideas for, come up with a few ideas about why you want to run and what you want to do or change if you're elected and sign yourself up! Check out some manifesto examples here. Don't worry if you can't put anything fancy together, just make sure people know who you are and what you stand for!
Have a think about your skills, experiences, what you think Young Welsh Liberals could improve or do better, and any new ideas for activities that we could be doing. Have a chat to someone on the team if you've got any questions!
We also have four sub-committees to which most members are appointed by the Executive or come from one of our Branches. This is an easy way to ease yourself into taking on a role in Young Welsh Liberals before running for an Executive Officer position. Take a look to see if you're interested in any one of our three committees.
